Novecom is pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Jones as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Phil is an accomplished leader, with more than 30 years’ experience developing advanced safety and communication technologies, particularly within the mining and agriculture sectors.
Growing up in Queensland, Phil developed a passion for STEM fields, particularly electronics. He followed that interest and took up a trade in industrial electronics, working on remote operated mining machinery and telecommunications infrastructure, and contributing to the development of innovative technologies for the industry.
In the early 2000’s Phil moved to Townsville where he co-founded a company ‘Newcomm Solutions’. The company expanded to the point where they employed 150 staff, before being acquired by German company ‘Becker Mining Solutions’. In 2016, Phil returned to Queensland to work for ‘TR Group’, a national company focusing on Defence & Industrial instrumentation calibration.
In later years, Phil worked to develop and deploy mine safety technologies, including the development of AI visual collision avoidance systems, where cameras on vehicles distinguished between humans and objects to protect people from machinery.
“The employment of advanced automated instrumentation and analytics to our primary industries has vastly transformed the productivity, safety and environmental performance of Australian industry and I aim to position Novecom at the forefront of this tech revolution,” said Phil.
Phil aims to lead Novecom through a period of growth, while keeping a customer first approach and enhancing the company’s reputation as a leading developer and supplier of environmental monitoring systems.
