Last week, seven of our early-career employees graduated from the University of Newcastle.
We congratulate Lachlan Thompson, Mindy Ta, Sarah Boutchard, Pat Steward, Ben Coady, Öleg Fina and Jesse Emerton on completing their degrees in their chosen disciplines.
Emergent Group Managing Director, Steven Smith, has long been an advocate for businesses hiring graduates in addition to recruiting experienced professionals.
“We’ve found that graduates bring attributes to the business that complement those of the broader team. They have fresh perspectives on things, they have great energy and enthusiasm and they’re willing to learn.
“Graduates bring all these qualities to the existing team, lifting us all in the process,” said Steven.
All of the graduates had commenced working with Advitech and Novecom prior to their formal graduations, and most were still studying when they came to us as on the University’s Work Integrated Learning program.
“Work experience programs are great for students and we’ve found that it’s an effective way to identify talent. All of these graduates demonstrated their value to the business, so we’ve kept them on to continue their great work,” said Steven
The seven graduates have studied a range of STEM subjects and have achieved the following degrees:
- Ben Coady – Bachelor of Computer Science with Distinction
- Sarah Boutchard – Bachelor of Medical Engineering (Honours) with Honours Class II Division 1
- Pat Steward – Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honours) with Honours Class 1
- Lachlan Thompson – Bachelor of Mathematics (Advanced), Majoring in Pure and Applied Mathematics
- Mindy Ta – Master of Information Technology majoring in Business Analytics
- Öleg Fina – Bachelor of Renewable Energy Engineering (Honours) with Honours Class II Division 1
- Jesse Emerton – Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Honours) with Honours Class I
All of us at Emergent Group are excited to have these talented individuals join us at the beginning of their careers and we look forward to working with them all as they gain experience and develop their skills even further.
