Emergent Group is committed to the ongoing professional development of our engineers and scientists. We encourage and support our staff with development programs through Engineers Australia, Clean Air Society of Australia and New Zealand (CASANZ) and the Australian Acoustical Society.
With our growing work in air quality and odour management, we arranged for five of our environmental scientists and process engineers to participate in three days of CALPUFF training. “Being trained by a qualified CASANZ trainer ensured our team learned from the best in the field. The trainer was most qualified to demonstrate the recent enhancements for roadway simulations and postprocessing capabilities”, said Rod Bennison, Advitech’s Lead Environmental Scientist.
CALPUFF is a dispersion model, recommended by many regulatory agencies around the world. CALPUFF simulates the effects of time and space, varying meteorological conditions on pollution transport, chemical transformation and plume deletion. It is suitable for many applications and is commonly used by our Advitech Air Quality team for poultry meat developments as well as new mining and quarry assessments.
Building on our strong knowledge and experience in air quality, dispersion modelling and odour management, our Air Quality team gained insight from using the latest CALPUFF software to evaluate real world as well as recent project examples.
On completion of the course, we asked Grant Brown, our Environmental Scientist and Air Quality Specialist, for his feedback.
“It’s fantastic working for a company who truly encourages and supports professional development and has remarkable training room facilities. This training added to my already strong knowledge of air dispersion modelling. It was great using the very latest software to make animations of wind vectors, concentrations, and to see the deposition patterns. I’m proud to say that Advitech’s Air Quality team is trained for the provision of high level expert air quality and odour assessments. We are looking forward to applying this experience and new gained knowledge to help our customers to find solutions to their air quality issues.”
